Feature: 10 Englishman playing abroad to look out for this season

As the new season gets underway across Europe we at Off The Post News take a look at some of our young Englishman flying the flag abroad. Here is a list of ten players to look out for over the coming season:

Name: Ravel Morrison

Age: 22

Born: Manchester, England

Position: Attacking Midfielder

Club: Lazio, Italy

Impressed in pre-season with a lot of the Italian media hailing him as ‘the new Gazza’. Scored four goals in his first two friendlies for the club and has been given the number seven shirt for the new season. Unfortunately suffered a set back after injuring his ankle in a friendly against Vicenza, but is slowly making his recovery back into the team, coming off the bench in the last two matches for Lazio in the Serie A. Looks set to be an important part of Stefano Pioli’s set up, as the controversial star finally looks to fulfill his undoubted potential.

Name: Lewis Baker

Age: 20

Born: Luton, England

Position: Centre Midfield

Club: Chelsea (on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, Dutch Eredivisie)

Former captain of the England u20’s side Lewis has everything to be the complete central midfielder, strong, quick and comfortable on the ball he will suit the Dutch Eredivisie philosophy and style of play. He has already been a key part of the Vitesse side so far in the centre of the park, and is the elected penalty taker for the season, netting a couple of goals in the past few matches. This is a crucial season in the youngster’s development.

Name: Taylor Moore

Age: 18

Born: London, England

Position: Centre Back

Club: RC Lens, France

One of the few players on the list who speaks another language fluently and has had the opportunity to grow into a football club, after signing for RC Lens when he was just 12. Has been given the number 6 shirt this season and will be one of the main starters for RC Lens, as they seek promotion back up to Ligue 1. Regular first team football in a tough league will only help aid the youngster’s development, both physically and tactically, exciting campaign to keep tabs on.

Name: John Bostock

Age: 23

Born: London, England

Position: Centre Midfield

Club: OH Leuven, Belgium

Once the wonderkid of English football Bostock has been slowly rebuilding his career in the second tier of the Belgian league. Helped guide his club OH Leuven to promotion to the top flight last season with 11 goals in 26 games. Massive season for the Former Tottenham player in what is a remarkable story, set to be a key player in OH Leuven’s survival battle.

Name: Charlie L’Anson

Age: 22

Born: Luton, England

Position: Centre Back

Club: Elche, Spain

Remarkably England’s sole representative in Spanish football last year the former Grimsby player is set for an interesting season. He spent most of last year out on loan in the lower divisions, but impressed whilst playing for Real Oviedo in helping them to the Segunda B title. Relegated Elche will now look to bounce straight back up to La Liga and Charlie could be an important part of this promotion push, with his experience at Real Oviedo standing him in good stead.

Name: Dominic Solanke

Age: 17

Born: Basingstoke, England

Position: Striker

Club: Chelsea (on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, Dutch Eredivisie)

One of the brightest prospects in English football Solanke will join fellow Chelsea youngsters Lewis Baker and Izzy Brown on loan at Vitesse for the season. Has an astonishing goal scoring record at youth level football, last season netting 12 goals in 9 games for Chelsea’s u19’s in the UEFA Youth League. Interesting season ahead as he fights for a first team spot at Vitesse, looking to make the very tough transition between youth football and senior level football. Already started off well and has looked comfortable when coming off the bench for Vitesse, scoring his debut goal for the club in their 4-1 victory over SC Cambuur.

Name: Chuks Aneke

Age: 22

Born: London, England

Position: Centre Midfielder

Club: Zulte Waregem, Belgium

Joined from Arsenal last summer and had a very impressive season in his first year at the club, making 38 appearances and scoring 4 goals. Powerful runner with the ball at 6’ 3” he has the rare ability to drift past players with ease in a Yaya Toure esc way, if he can remain focused and fully fit he could have a big future ahead of him, with this being a crucial season in his development.

Name: Danny Collinge

Age: 17

Born: –

Position: Centre Back

Club: Stuttgart, Germany

Joined Stuttgart from MK Dons last summer and has so far been a key player for the clubs u17/18 academy sides. Helped England qualify for the u17 World Cup earlier this summer by defeating Spain in a play off on penalties, after being knocked out of the competition in the quarter finals. His main objective this season will be to rise up the Stuttgart ranks, as the cash stricken club will look to the academy for future first team players; the u17 World Cup in October will be a great chance to showcase his abilities to boss Alexander Zorniger.

Name: Todd Kane

Age: 21

Born: Huntingdon, England

Position: Right Back

Club: Chelsea (on loan at NEC, Dutch Eredivisie)

Another Chelsea youngster on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie Kane has joined newly promoted side NEC. This will be the fifth season in a row that Kane has been out on loan and at 21 this is a big season for the youngster to impress any on looking suitors.

Name: Nathaniel Chalobah

Age: 20

Born: Freetown, Sierra Leone (English nationality)

Position: Centre Midfield

Club: Chelsea (on loan at Napoli, Italy)

Last minute season-long loan deal completed on transfer deadline day sees an exciting move to Italian giants Napoli for Nathaniel Chalobah. He’s been given the number 14 shirt for the season and it’ll be very interesting to see what sort of role he’ll play at the club. Hugely encouraging move, as he reportedly turned down approaches from several premier league and championship sides, before deciding on the invaluable experience of playing a season in the Serie A.
